Why this matters
Useful creative tools often become subscription-only. Open Free Tools keeps the core workflow free, documents limits clearly, and lets people self-host or fork projects when they need control.
Free · Open Source · Browser First
Many useful tools move behind subscriptions. This project explores a different path: practical open-source tools, transparent limits, and a website that can fund itself without paywalling core features.
Useful creative tools often become subscription-only. Open Free Tools keeps the core workflow free, documents limits clearly, and lets people self-host or fork projects when they need control.
Core features stay free and open-source. The project does not copy paid services' brands, logos, UI, assets, private APIs, or protected behavior.
Prefer static hosting and browser-side processing. Use optional backends only when heavy work cannot reasonably run in the browser.
The project should grow through feedback, GitHub issues, useful guides, short demos, and honest launch posts in relevant communities.
Open Free Tools exists to make useful browser-first tools available without subscription pressure. The goal is not to clone paid products, but to build independent open-source workflows that users can inspect, fork, and self-host.
Core functionality should remain free. Funding can come from respectful ads on content pages, donations, sponsorships, and promotion of our own projects, not from hiding the essential workflow behind a paywall.
